Being deficient in Vitamin B3 can affect your body quite severely if steps aren’t taken to correct it. The major disease related to Vitamin B3 deficiency is called pellagra, which is a serious and potentially fatal disease.

“Four D’s” characterize this disease:

  1. Diarrhea
  2. Dementia
  3. Dermatitis
  4. and Death

A Niacin deficiency tends to impact every cell of your body, especially within your gastrointestinal tract, skin and nervous system. Its deficiency can lead to low energy release in the body and this could cause weakness, fatigue, indigestion, anorexia and skin eruptions.

Side Effects of Vitamin B3:

There are no major side effects of B3, as compared with other vitamins, even on intake of high doses. However, some people may experience irritation of the gastrointestinal tract or liver, due to high dosages of Niacin.
